Lesson #13

Teaching with Visual Symbols

Teaching with visual symbols is important in the classroom, after you deliver a class with a real world experience we have to follow this time with visual symbols. The different kinds of visual symbols can be used in different purposes to demonstrate or to organize your discussion through symbols. Obviously, graphs are easier to understand than word discussion. Your discussion should possess concrete visual aids using the symbols. In cartoons, it is used to interpret what you want to impart to your students or to the class. The strip drawings are used to entertain and at the same time, using dialogs and drawings can ask an insight from your class in similar experiences they had. On the other hand, the diagram is used to set up illustrations to your class to display statistics that is significant in your discussion. Lastly, maps show the charted places and locations in the world. There are specifications and kinds of visual symbols that are suitable to what you want to discuss. Everything still depends on the topic and the kind of visual symbols that you will use.
